Dr. Black earned an MD and PhD at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He then completed his residency in an extensive research and orthopaedic surgery program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. From there, he was accepted into a prestigious fellowship program through The Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center. While in Philadelphia he received additional in-depth training in microsurgery, wrist and small joint arthroscopy, upper extremity joint replacement, fracture care, tendon and nerve repair. He has combined his education and research endeavors to publish several articles concerning advanced tendon repair techniques and other topics of interest. He is an active candidate member of the American Society of Surgery of the Hand, and the American Association for Hand Surgery, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Throughout his extensive training, Dr. Black has been recognized with awards for excellence and achievement. Today, he uses advanced operative and non-operative techniques to restore flexibility, movement and comfort to patients with hand and upper extremity disorders."
