This content was provided by Dr. Gitelman "Darren Gitelman, MD, is the Senior Medical Director of the Advocate Memory Center (2014), Professor of Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Neurology and Radiology at Northwestern University. He was previously at Northwestern University full-time from 1994-2014. Dr. Gitelman is board certified in Neurology (1993) and Internal Medicine (1988). He has subspecialty certification in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (2006). He has extensive experience in the evaluation and treatment of patients with a wide variety of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, progressive aphasia and Lewy body dementia among others. Dr. Gitelman is an author on over 90 peer reviewed publications on topics such as attention, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), language, aphasia, memory, and dementia. He has given numerous talks on Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Dr. Gitelman received a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and graduated summa cum laude. His MD degree was also from Washington University. He did residencies in Internal Medicine at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, NY, NY, and Neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, where he was also chief resident. He did a behavioral neurology fellowship at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA."
