Dr. Refai and his team were absolutely wonderful in getting me through a disc herniation and surgery. My surgery could have been very complicated and have had a very difficult recovery, but he went the extra mile and took the time in my surgery to give me the best chance of success and best recovery. He is great at explaining the medical situations. His team is very responsive and understood the severity of my pain, and expedited my surgery. Would definitely recommend.

Dr. Refai was knowledgeable, compassionate, & honest in the assessment of my condition. Since the diagnosis is was given is rare, he opted to minimize the type of surgery I would need in hopes of the best of the next steps. (Proton therapy). He was patient with all of my questions and his office was responsive to my inquiries. I would recommend Dr. Refai to anyone!

Dr. Refai and his staff were outstanding in relation to my spinal stenosis. As an 80 yom he was a little reluctant to take on my back problems. However my L3-S1 laminectomy and L4-L5 fusion were performed with excellence. I was especially impressed with the ease of communicating with his staff through the Blue Portal. I would highly recommend Dr. Refai if you have spinal stenosis.

Dr. Refai receives my highest recommendation for anyone considering his services. I was extremely impressed with his pre-op preparations, communications, surgical work, results, efficiency of processes from start to finish, personable demeanor, and quality of supporting staff . I was also very impressed with how he has his team orchestrating their roles in the OR - in short "impressive". Overall they engendered in me confidence that I was in good hands.

I was suffering from chronic backpain for over a year. The frequency of acute pain experience increased from once in a while to almost daily basis. I came to Dr Refai for a second opinion. He immediately identified that my pain was due to a tumor on spinal cord. Within 72 hours of my first visit with him, Dr Refai completed the surgery and successfully removed the tumor. He just gave me a second life. Kudos to Dr Refai!!

I would definitely recommend Dr. Refai to my family and friends because of the growth of his medical knowledge and self confidence and medical skills. Dr. Refai has been a great physician since I met him. I had an appointment with him but had fall at home and my son drove me to the emergency room. I hurt my back very bad and tried to over look the importance of self care. I hurt myself and did not acknowledge it and did not file and incident report after injury at work because I did not realize that I really hurt myself and thought that I pulled a muscle and would l get better within time. I did more than injured a muscle. I dislocated a couple of spinal disks. Time went by and I had fall at home. Even though I had an appointment with Dr. Refai in the next two days, my son carried me to the Emory ER room. Dr. Refai admitted me into the hospital. I had surgery and today I am ninety-five percent better. I had surgery a year ago February 24, 2020. Dr. Refai is a wonderful guy.

Dr. Refai and his entire team were fantastic. I have never been treated so well from the beginning to the end. I was not even his patient and he came to visit me at different times in the hospital and always said he was the last alternative. He wanted me to try everything before turning to surgery which I did. It came to the point I needed surgery and he was a miracle worker. It is six weeks since surgery and I have already been going to PT for several weeks and walking 3 miles a day. I would give Dr. Refai and his entire team the highest recommendation.

I was diagnosed with cervical spondylosis. My spinal cord was beginning to become compressed. Dr Refai successfully performed laminoplasty and I am feeling well on my way to a full recovery 6 weeks later. COVID forced all pre op appointments to be via computer but I feel that all of my concerns were addressed in a manner that gave me comfort.

As a emergency patient, Dr. Refai and his his team were honest with me in treating a bone infection caused by another facility, which was life threatening when I arrived at Emory. His team acted fast and performed an anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion. After a month of severe pain, I experienced immediate relief. Follow up appointment went well. He and his team were direct and professional in their bedside manner. Great team of medical professionals!

Dr. Refai and team are very good and pretty efficient with their support. The surgical experience was good. He has a good way of explaining prognosis, assessments, current conditions and suggested options. His team was a very good support. The team's RN, Katherine, is quite responsive, as is the rest of the team. The team admin, Itzala, was great as well. They did all they could to support particularly with the current restrictions of the COVID environment. I certainly recommend them for any spine conditions and surgical considerations.
