If you must go to TOA see anyone but Daniel Phillips. He is one of the most impersonable and least concerned doctors I have ever met. He barely listened to my problem and maybe spent 3 minutes total with me, before and after my X-ray. I had to stop him from leaving the room to just get him to explain what I should do for my ankle. I completely understand why Phillips was more available than the other doctors.

Dr. Phillips, his nurse, and all the staff at TOA are top notch! I could not be happier with my new knee. The physical therapist gave me exercises to do beforehand, his nurse and scheduler made sure I was clear on the process, and the surgery center at St. Thomas was fabulous. I made sure I did my part - moving, exercising, taking meds as directed, and due to Dr. Phillips surgical skills and experience, I was walking my neighborhood within a week! It feels terrific to be mobile again.

DR. PHILLIPS IS A WONDERFUL, CARING DOCTOR. HE SAW ME FOR MY FOOT AND IT IS MUCH IMPROVED. HE IS THE BEST IN MY OPINION!!! HIS STAFF IS EXCELLENT. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM AND HAVE TO MANY OF MY FRIENDS.
in Nashville, TN |
He is very knowledgeable about all joints and if someone in his practice specializes in something like the spine, he doesn't hesitate to refer you. He tries conservative measures before he does surgery. His staff is very friendly and they get you in quickly if needed. He has a dry sense of humor, which I appreciate. I am an R.N. with 22 years of experience, a lot of which is in orthopedics, so this review is based on medical knowledge, not just a popularity contest.
in Brentwood, TN |
Dr. Phillips performed carpal tunnel release surgery on both of my hands - about two months apart in early 2016 at the Baptist Ambulatory Surgery Center. Both procedures were extremely effective and successful. He performed a total right knee replacement in July 2016 at the Joint Replacement Institute at St. Thomas Midton. It was also very effective. Dr. Phillips was always friendly and personable during by visit. He remembered personal details and asked about them. I highly recommend him.
in Nashville, TN |
I had my rotor cuff surgery on March 28, 2016. The surgery was preformed at the Baptist ambilitory Center. The service was excellent and care was excellent. Dr Phillips answered all my questions regarding the surgery and questions about what to do upon arriving home. Dr Phillips set up therapy with Star therapy in Donelson, Ryan Hartman was a wonderful therapist. I saw Dr Phillips two times following my surgery. He spent time talking with me and helping me with my recovery. Great surgeon!
in Pleasant View, TN |
I recently had a Left Total Knee Arthroplasty, and I could not be better pleased. My preop teaching as well as my hospital experience could not have gone any better. I am recuperating very well and I am progressing very well with my physical therapy. My experience with Dr. Phillips was a very positive experience for me. I am a retired R.N.
in Little Rock, Arkansas |
Dr Phillips was personable and answered my questions completely. Post op results were excellent with both knee surgeries which were five years apart.
in Nashville, TN |
Dr. Phillips is probably an excellent surgeon, he did a good job on my knee..but he is definitely not kind to WOMEN. He is very dismissive, condescending, very egotistical to women.I've talked to other patients about him after surgery.Humiliates you if you aren't articulate about your condition. EGO! I did not feel at ease in his office. His personality has rubbed off on his nurse as well. She's somewhat abrasive, hardly smiles at you. Both act very staunch, not appealing to a patient. PASS!
in Nashville, TN |
Very friendly and knowledgeable for my two conditions and prescribed the correct fix for each.
in Nashville, TN |
He is the rudest doctor I've ever encountered. Would not recommend him for my dog. Very short sighted and condescending. Completely humiliated by him.
in Hendersonville, TN |
Helpful and empathetic with my knee issue.
