He trained at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, regularly ranked as one of the top 5 hospitals in the country. Dr. Meldrum maintains active Board Certifications by both the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery Dr Meldrum is the senior associate editor in chief of the medical journal "Shock Dr. Meldrum served 18 years in the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel Daniel R. Meldrum MD served as the President of the Society of University Surgeons from 2011-2012 and delivered its Presidential Address in Las Vegas, NV in February, 2012. Dr. Meldrum has held the rank of Professor of Surgery at three different US medical schools, Indiana University, University of Florida and Michigan State University. Dr. Meldrum served as the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Florida Daniel R. Meldrum MD served as a permanent member of the National Institutes of Health Myocardial Ischemia and Metabolism study section Dr. Meldrum served as a member of the National Institutes of Health Right Heart Working Group. Daniel Meldrum is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society, the American Surgical Association, the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, and the Society of Thoracic Surgery, and is a fellow of the American Heart Association and the American College of Surgeons. I was so scared to have heart surgery but I am glad I did. Not as bad as I thought it would be and what a life changer in a good way. It was over before I knew it and recovering at home and I can breathe now. Thought it was my lungs but it was my heart.
