Learn about Dr. Ketterer

Care Philosophy

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Ketterer moved with his family to Atlanta, Georgia during his senior year of high school.  He first became interested in becoming an Infectious Disease physician while studying Medical Microbiology at Georgia Tech.  Dr. Ketterer graduated from the Medical College of Georgia and went on to complete his residency and fellowship training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

After completion of his medical training, Dr. Ketterer returned to his hometown of Atlanta in 2014 to be closer to friends and family and provide outstanding care with a personal approach. Dr. Ketterer is passionate about serving Atlanta's LGBT/Kink/Alt community, a group that is both disproportionately affected with infectious diseases, and often feels ostracized from the medical community at large.  Dr. Ketterer enjoys educating patients about their medical conditions and taking the time to answer questions to achieve the best outcomes possible.

Dr. Ketterer's other medical interests include:

  • Increasing hospital hand hygiene compliance
  • Prevention of hospital-acquired infections
  • Improving health care outcomes while reducing patient costs
  • Antibiotic Stewardship
  • Promotion of evidence based medicine.

In his spare time, Dr. Ketterer enjoys writing sketch comedy, endurance road cycling, mid-distance running, building computers, craft beers, SCUBA diving, Georgia Tech football, Memphis Grizzlies basketball, and world travel.

It was a pleasure meeting Dr Ketterer. Very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. Gave me plenty of time to talk and ask any question I could think of, and never felt rushed unlike during other doctor's appointments. He listens to you and gives you options. I left his office today feeling I have a new ally and someone I can trust with my health.
