He's been practicing in Statesboro since 2012 but is moving to Twin City on June 18th. Dr. Penn's undergraduate training was at Wake Forest University. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Penn's Internal Medicine residency was also at MUSC, and during that time influence by well-known advanced endoscopist, Dr. Robert Hawes, led him to his choice of subspecialty training. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Florida, where he worked closely with Drs. Peter Draganov and Christopher Forsmark. MUSC and UF were both ranked in the top 50 programs in the nation for Gastroenterology at the time. Dr. Penn is well recognized in his field and has published in several prominent journals. He has given presentations at the national level, and continues to give lectures on pancreatic disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and advanced endoscopic tools and techniques in the southern region."

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Penn "The key to appropriate care is caring for patients, and a love for the science of medicine, which is continually growing and changing. Symptoms are clues to a diagnosis. "Normal" tests don't mean that a disease doesn't exist."

Dr. Penn Says:

Thank you for the positive feedback. If there is anything I would change about our practice it's the time that patients spend waiting in the lobby for their appointments. It is not uncommon for someone with an appointment at 2:00 pm to get to see me at 3:30 pm. There is a lot of unpredictability in this specialty and it is important that each patient has enough time to be fully assessed and examined. We hope to decrease the wait-times

Don't waste your time if you want to see a doctor. Apparently, he is never in the office, he spends all his time at the hospital.
