About Me

I care about your total health, not just your spine. I am satisfied when I can have a positive influence on your health and the quality of your life, regardless of whether or not I recommend surgery. My care philosophy is to use surgery as a last resort and, when surgery is necessary, to employ minimally invasive techniques to minimize blood loss, hospital stay and recovery time.

How do you Thank a Dr. for giving you your life back? Well i don’t know but anyone living in pain.. you owe it to yourself to have a consult with Dr. Birk!!! I went to him on 3/22/19 dragging my rt leg not being able to bare weight on it or lift it at all without picking it up with my hands, bent over not being able to stand straight any longer due to failed spine surgery in such severe pain tears just rolled down my face. Went for every injection there is with NO relief. At my visit on 3/22/19 Dr.Birk sent me to the hospital where his team was waiting for me.. long story short Dr.Birk performed a 2 days surgery on me just out of the operating room still under Anastasia I was able to lift my leg the following day I stood up and was standing straight!! I was standing straight for the first time in 6 years!!!! I could walk with both feet, and legs that could move without me lifting or dragging the rt one!!! I thought I was going to be bent and crippled for the rest of my life after livin

I started seeing Dr. Birk about a year and a half ago, after years of pain management were no longer working to deal with my cervical spine issues. From the outset, he listened to my concerns, answered my questions, and in general was (and is) one of the best doctors I have ever had. He performed a 4-level ACDF a year ago and I am doing great. Once the surgery was done, he even pushed me to lose weight and I feel even better. I cannot thank him enough for everything he's done for me.

Dr. Birk is an amazing Neurosurgeon. He completed an ACDF-triple fusion due to cervical stenosis and myelopathy. Before this surgery, I wasn't able to make a fist, couldn't write, imbalanced gait and many other neurological issues. After my surgery, all of these issues have resolved. I had this surgery within a 6 month time frame of the onset of all of these symptoms. I highly recommend Dr. Birk to anyone who is looking for an exceptional Neurosurgeon. Best of luck to everyone! ~M. Banks

Early Feb I was suffering from sever back pain at which time I saw an orthopedic dr that was a waste of time. My primary told me to seek the Davis nuero group at which time I was given an appointment with Dr BIirk . He sent me for an MRI at which time I had herniated l3 l4 l5. Iwas given surgery on l5 with great relief. then 1 month later it reherniated. due to insurance refusals I had to wait until June for additional surgery. All 3 had to be fused as he promised DrBirk cured me now no pain ty
