This content was provided by Dr. Beckles "Dr. Beckles is an American boarded academic cardiothoracic surgeon at the UHS Heart & Vascular Institute. Previously, he was the Herman & Olive Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery, Associate Professor of Surgery and Cell Biology and Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. He is double boarded in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Beckles earned his BS degree in Biochemistry and his MS degree in Chemistry from Stony Brook University and his Medical Degree at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He stayed on to complete his general surgery internship, residency and chief residency along with his PhD in cardiovascular Molecular and Cellular Biology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center/Kings County Hospital Center. He completed his cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas/Parkland Memorial Hospital and a minimally invasive thoracic surgery fellowship at the Brigham and Women's Hospital-Harvard Medical School. He is a specialist in the care of end-stage heart and lung diseases and an expert in minimally invasive surgery."
