Extremely disappointed. I had an endoscopy in September and when I awaken I was advised that I vomited. That evening I was admitted to the hospital with: Sepsis, Tachycardia and aspiration double pneumonia. I stayed in the hospital for a week and during that time the hospital made repeated calls to Dr. Alpert that were NEVER returned. Apparently, I aspirated while having the endoscopy. I was never informed that because I vomited, I was at risk for aspiration that could lead to pneumonia. If I had this information, I would have been on the look out for the symptoms. When the endoscopy was over, I was given a sheet of paper with some instructions on it that did NOT cover aspiration. I should have been given BOTH verbal and written instructions that outlined the severity of having aspirated.
