Care Philosophy

I confess I am a perfectionist and I can't stand being mediocre at anything I do. If I take a class, I want an "A". If I play a game, I want to win. That same drive impacts every encounter I have with my patients. Instead of grades or trophies, however, my prize is my patients' health and satisfaction. For the last twenty years I've been at the forefront of treating vein disease, which is an exciting and rapidly evolving field of medicine. At Premier Vein & Body we use the latest technology that's proven, rather than jumping on the latest new fad before it's been tested. Some vein clinics buy expensive equipment because it looks fancy or sounds good in advertisements. Unfortunately, this can also create a high-pressure sales environment, as they have to sell a substantial number of procedures in order to pay for the equipment! I refuse to do this in my practice, and only use technology that provides a significant benefit to my patients.Read more

in Kansas City, MO |
Dr. Schwartz has treated varicose veins of my mom and sister, all with great results. I'm starting my vein treatment end of this month, now that my insurance deductible has been met for the year. I don't think you could find a vein specialist who is more knowledgeable or able to guide you through treatment options.

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

Dr. Schwartz says...

Dr. Craig Schwartz is a triple board-certified physician in Vascular Surgery, General Surgery and Phlebology (Vein Disease).

Dr Schwarz is widely considered one of the Midwest's top vein specialists, having completed over 10,000 vein procedures to eliminate spider veins and varicose veins.

Dr Schwartz is renowned for his use of state-of-the-art minimally invasive procedures to treat his patients, and is the vein doctor trusted by many physicians to refer their vein patients to.

A number of patients also turn to Dr. Schwartz for help when they have received less than satisfactory results from other vein clinics.

Dr. Schwartz received his BS from Tufts University in Massachusetts and his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine

Dr Schwarz moved to Kansas City in 2003 and opened one of the first vein specialist clinics in the Midwest offering his patients the full spectrum of minimally invasive treatment options for varicose veins and spider veins.

Dr. Schwartz is also a certified Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) to perform and interpret venous ultrasound.

In 2008 and 2014 Dr. Schwartz was named "One of America's Top Surgeons" and in 2008 and 2014 "Kansas City Super Doctor".

Dr. Schwartz is an active supporter of many charities, including the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association, the American Diabetes Association, AHA Go Red for Women, Marillac Mental Health Care for Children, Safe Home and Womens' Employment Network.

Dr. Schwartz lives in Kansas City with his wife Peggy and son Trevor, and enjoys golf, travel, reading and water sports in his time off.

The Premier Vein & Body Story

Through the years aesthetic medicine has been growing more popular, and Dr. Schwartz noticed that more of his vein patients were also having cosmetic and liposuction procedures done – often with irregular and unsatisfactory results or prolonged recovery times. His wife Peggy was also becoming interested in minimally invasive body contouring procedures and anti-aging treatments, so together they researched providers in the Kansas City market, but were shocked at how invasive the procedures were and at the length of recovery times (even today a prolonged recovery period for liposuction is not unusual!)

Dr. Schwartz began to study the ever expanding field of aesthetic medicine – specifically minimally invasive treatments for fat removal, body contouring, cellulite reduction and anti-aging treatments for the skin. As Dr. Schwartz was already skilled in minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins and spider veins, particularly with the use of laser surgery, he looked for ways to transfer his unique skill set over to help his patients reshape their bodies – but without having to endure the risks of general surgery or long recovery times.

Dr Schwartz trained under Dr. Jeffrey Klein, the original inventor and developer of Tumescent Liposuction – the first liposuction procedure performed totally under local anesthesia and he attended multiple preceptorships around the country with the premier instructors in laser and ultrasound-assisted liposuction, including internationally known "celebrity" cosmetic physicians Dr. Robert Weiss, Dr. Roger Hogue and Dr. David Broadway.

In 2014 Dr. Schwartz merged his two practices and Vein Centers for Excellence of Kansas City and KC Body Contouring became Premier Vein & Body by Schwartz, in order to provide patients a more comprehensive range of minimally invasive and non-invasive treatments for veins and body.
