Dr. Shands like to talk, but does not like to listen. Easily becomes impatient. Does not listen to patient concerns. Sloppy, even inaccurate patient record keeping. Despite slowly rising post prostatectomy PSA, kept referring to it as "undetectable" until it was obvious that cancer had returned. Cancer return may have been avoided with post surgical radiation, per my oncologist. ...Too late now. Thanks, Dr. Shands!

I went to Dr. Shands for a vasectomy and found him to be very calming in regards to this procedure. He talked about what to expect, how any pain management would be handled, and the post procedure steps. During, he explained what was going to happen, how it might feel, and that everything was going well. After he was done, he ran through what the next several days might be like, warning me about possible pain. There really was no pain or recovery to speak of. I would highly recommend him!!!

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
