As a Board-Certified Allergist, I love taking care of the family unit & educating kids and adults about their allergies, asthma, recurrent infections & hives or eczema. Since allergies run in the family & can affect multiple body areas, visiting our allergy/immunology practice allows a family to see a single doctor who can teach them how to care for their nose, eyes, ears, sinuses, skin, gut & lungs, while improving their quality of life in ways they had no idea was even possible!
Dr. Clara Chung has called Birmingham her home since 1989. A native of Kansas, she holds degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (BS), the University of Kansas School of Medicine (MD), and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (MPH—Maternal and Child Health). She completed her medical Internship in Pediatrics at Emory University and both a Residency in Pediatrics and a 3-year Fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at UAB. Her training certifies her to treat allergies and asthma in both adults and children.
Dr. Chung previously served as the president of the Alabama Society of Allergy and Immunology. She is a diplomate of The American Board of Pediatrics and The American Board of Allergy and Immunology, making her Board Certified to treat children and adults for allergy, asthma, and immunologic problems. She loves caring for the family unit and educating children and adults about their allergies, asthma and other respiratory issues, allergic or contact skin conditions, and recurrent infections or immunologic issues. She aims to enable long-term respiratory health and improved quality of life in all of her patients. Outside of work, Dr. Chung and her husband enjoy spending time with their two daughters and helping them to pursue their own dreams.
