This content was provided by Dr. Varughese "Dr. Varughese is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and board certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, internal medicine, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and a registered physician in vascular interpretation. Dr. Varughese received his medical degree from the highly competitive combined six year accelerated BS/MD program at Howard University under a full merit-based scholarship. He returned back to New York City to complete his internal medicine internship and residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, where he was the recipient of the Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for Outstanding Teaching of Medical Students. He completed his specialty training in cardiology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, followed by an additional year of subspecialty training in interventional cardiology, where he performed complex coronary, valvular and vascular interventions, while serving as the Chief Interventional Cardiology Fellow. Throughout his career he has contributed to the scientific community through publication of multiple articles, book chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences including the national conferences for Heart Failure Society of America, American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Varughese emphasizes the importance of preventative medicine and works with his patients and their families towards a healthy lifestyle. He has partnered with personal trainers and nutritionists to ensure that his patients receive the best care possible. He is a dedicated physician always available to his patients. He currently has admitting privileges and performs interventional and endovascular procedures at The Mount Sinai Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, Staten Island University Hospital and Richmond University Medical Center. His areas of interest include treatment of circulatory disease, including office based treatment of varicose veins, swelling of the legs and venous ulcers."
