This content was provided by Dr. Mantyh I am a colorectal surgeon and researcher who has been at Duke for about 25 years. I see patients who have issues with the small bowel colon rectum and anus. These issues include benign tumors cancers hemorrhoids and fistulas. The best part of my job is operating. The operating room is a special place where we have been able to put a number of processes in place so things run smoothly and we can give patients the best chance at a good outcome. The fact that you can take a condition operate and potentially cure a patient is fascinating to me. As a faculty member I also enjoy when I have the chance to teach residents during the operation. When I am not at work I enjoy fishing hiking and playing tennis with my children.
