Dr. Lechner removed the trapezium from my thumb on 11/30/2018 to reduce arthritis pain. After the prescribed PT and being patient while healing takes place I find that my thumb pain is constant and worse than before the surgery. On my final visit Dr. Lechner said “You must be very disappointed.” Then he stood up and left the room - no follow up, no recommendations, no compassion. I’m 76 years old and I must say that Lechner is the most arrogant, rude, and egotistical person I have ever encountered in the medical profession. I also seriously doubt his surgical capability. He just doesn’t care.

The first time I saw Dr. Lechner he was called in by a local hospital on an emergency basis after a diagnostic liver scan with contrast went wrong and my whole arm swelled up....a potentially very serious situation. He was thoughtful in his approach and care over the following days and ultimately everything turned out well. Then years later after an injury I went to him after another doctor was suggesting two complex surgeries on my hand. Doctor Lechner told me that if I was a member of his family he would suggest I wait six months before even considering surgery. He was right on the money and the injury healed on its own. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Lechner and now he is the only hand specialist I would see. I believe he is The Real Deal!

I saw Dr.Lechner in 2014 for a ganglion cyst removal on my right wrist. He chose a non traditional approach to the cyst's removal from the top of my wrist, rather than under my wrist, where the cyst was present. The cyst reappeared weeks after surgery, but Dr. Lechner insisted it was just "swelling." He completely denied that the cyst reappeared...as if it was a figment of my imagination. I need the surgery repeated now ( and have needed it repeated since the original surgery) but haven't had the PTO to take time off work for another surgery. Humility and honesty are not his strong points. I will be finding a different surgeon for the next operation.

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Lechner. He operated on my hand and it turned out to be worse afterward. Then the tendon in my wrist became very tight and painful above the scar, from where I had the surgery on my right thumb. I had to have surgery again and it is still not right. Dr. Lechner is supposed to be a very good hand surgeon, but not in my book.

I had an awful experience with Dr. Lechner and I would discourage anyone from going to him for any kind of medical help. I had scheduled surgery with him but changed my mind to pursue a non-surgical option (acupuncture for carpal tunnel). When acupuncture failed, I returned to Dr. Lechner who was rude and who told me my hand would never get better. He told me my other hand was at stage 4 (out of 4) arthritis. This turned out to be a lie. It was the worst Dr. experience of my life. Stay away.

He was very professional and had a very good personality. He informed me on the operation of my arm to a point that I could understand. I would recommend him to anyone needing his/her arm, hand, or shoulder operated on.

Was referred to Dr. Lechner by my primary care physician. His words were, "he is the best" you won't go wrong in using him as your surgeon". My doctor was correct. He did a stupendous job on my hand. I am very well pleased.

I needed bilateral carpometacarpal arthroplasty. I had my left hand done first. My incision is very small. I compared it to the same surgery with other people who had different surgeons and it was a huge difference. My pain is nothing compared to before. I am so thankful for Dr. Lechner skills. Planning to get my right hand as soon as possible. I am a RN and I would recommend him with the highest praise.

Improperly using a knife (being an idiot), I sliced through my index extensor tendon, a very important muscle if you are a musician and craftsman like me. I was referred to Dr. Lechner by the urgent care, saw him the next morning, and was in surgery the following day. I am very happy with how quickly he scheduled me in, his many periodic check ups have been more than I expected out of a busy man, and I'm very happy with the ongoing care from him, his team, and Jeff, my physical therapist.

If you are looking for a surgeon who comes to your scheduled appointment late, diagnoses you before you completely explain your situation (completely wrong when I got a second opinion, thankfully BEFORE I let him perform surgery on me - only because he takes so much time off and it was impossible to schedule) and backs out of the room as you are still asking questions, then this is your guy.
