By having fellowship training in specialized advanced laparoscopic and robotic general surgery, as well as, extensive bariatric surgery experience provides a comprehensive and personalized treatment for each patient. The goal is to develop the surgical approach that will have the best outcome, lowest complications, least pain, lowest use of prescription pain medication and fastest return to a functional and better state of well being. Expertise in traditional and minimally invasive techniques and a collaboration with plastic surgery often allows the knowledge and perspective that should someone need reoperative surgery for an operation done either years before, elsewhere or even failed, STILL be possibly corrected in a minimally invasively way. All this is possible at a caring, faith based hospital with a full complement of dedicated medical specialists, nurses, 24 hour critical care support, physical therapists, pharmacists, volunteers, nutritionists and support staff.
I was born in Pennsylvania and have ongoing deep roots in the state for over 4 generations. I grew up in Maryland, outside of Washington, DC where my father began his career as a physician at Walter Reed Hospital and then private practice in Maryland and Washington DC. I attended Temple University School of Medicine, general surgery residency at The Washington Hospital Center and went on to study an advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery fellowship with some of the pioneers of laparoscopic and bariatric surgery in New Brunswick NJ at St Peter's Hospital. Training and incorporation of the Da Vinci robotic surgical system has further refined my minimally invasive techniques to refine the approach to general surgical conditions. After my fellowship, I joined the academic and clinical staff at Temple University School of Medicine and Temple University Hospital between 2003-2009. I went on to join a private practice position outside Kansas City returning to join the medical staff of St Mary's Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. Moving back to Pennsylvania after the birth of our daughter, brought my wife and I back closer to our family for her upbringing. I was fortunate to establish a close and collaborative practice relationship with Dr. Michael Jacobelli who has a wealth of medical and surgical experience and is one of the founding surgeons at St. Mary's Medical Center.
