Charles F. Sharp, Jr., M.D. Chief, Section of Endocrinology Huntington Memorial Hospital Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine Keck School of Medicine of USC Dr. Sharp is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Rancho Los Amigos/USC, then a research fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center. Dr. Sharp's residency training was interrupted in 1972 for two years of service in the United States Army Medical Corps. He was stationed at Can Tho Army Airfield, Republic of Vietnam from September 1972 through February 1973; then reassigned to My Tho following cessation of hostilities as part of the Joint Military Commission. He returned to the United States later that year and completed his military obligation at Fort McArthur, San Pedro, California. Dr Sharp was on the full time teaching faculty of the University of Southern California School of Medicine until he joined the academic faculty of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Huntington Memorial Hospital in 1989. He rejoined USC in April 2015. Dr. Sharp is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the disciplines of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Geriatric Medicine 1990-2010.). He is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American College of Physicians, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, the American College of Clinical Nutrition, and the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. In addition to his academic duties, Dr. Sharp was the Director of the Center for Metabolic Bone Disease and Endocrinology in Pasadena, California, where he maintained his private practice until his transition to USC in 2014. He was President of the Medical Staff of Huntington Memorial Hospital 2009-2011. Dr. Sharp was awarded the first Emeritus Professorship in Medicine at Huntington Memorial Hospital, and continues to be a member of the teaching faculty in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Huntington Hospital. .
