      He attended medical school at Emory University, Atlanta, Ga. He completed his internship at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., and residencies in surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and thoracic surgery at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He completed his fellowship in cardiac surgery at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, U.K. Dr. Roberts is board certified in cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery and comes from a distinguished line of heart doctors. His grandfather was the first heart specialist in Georgia. His father, now 80, continues to serve as editor for the American Journal of Cardiology.
