Our son just turned 15 and injured his left knee -- an avulsion fracture with a small piece of bone torn off. Dr. Popkin recommended surgery but also stated that the small piece of bone would not be saved allowing us to go on our previously scheduled trip to Europe. Our son wore a brace and hobbled all over Europe for three weeks and no pain. We had surgery August 28th at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville -- hospital and staff could not have been better or more competent. Dr. Popkin has an excellent bed side manner with both parents and children. He is the most brilliant pediatric surgeon in NY! We went for a second opinion in an abundance of caution -- the surgeon was terrible -- scaring my son and my wife and recommending immediate surgery. If I was not so busy getting ready for our trip etc. I would have filed a complaint -- Dr. Popkin did an excellent job with the surgery and recovery was exactly as he predicted - with PT and all the follow up visits. Our son was cleared today

Over the past 15 months my 16 year old son had 2 knee surgeries performed by Dr. Popkin. I have only the highest regard and praise for Dr. Popkin and his staff. Dr. Popkin treated my son as if he were his own. He spent a tremendous amount of time explaining his condition and our options, and was as patient with us as I have ever experienced a doctor to be. His warm bedside manner was like no other. I hope that we will never need another orthopedic surgeon, but if we do - he is our guy!
