Awful experience. He repaired a torn meniscus without informing me of potential future problems. I am 6 months post meniscus surgery and now need a complete knee replacement. Pain is awful. Had to wait at least 2 hours at each appt because he ran so late. Then he would rush through the appointment. Find another's doctor. Everything he told me was a lie.

2/12/16 I had a hip revision after 30 years. Dr. Heppenstall of Penn did my first one. I have to say I went to four different doctors before Dr. Nelson he is the only one that said he would do it. I cannot believe I lived with so much unnecessary pain as I did. Dr. Nelson gave me life back. Oh and yeah I can actually bend my knee after 30 years. Highly recommend him. My family is so thankful to him. Dr. Heppenstall also did very well for what he had to work with. Penn doctors are all amazing.
In July 2016, I received total hip replacement surgery from Dr. Nelson, and then on February 8, 2017, I underwent total knee replacement. Both were successful; in fact, my recovery has been astonishing to my family and friends. I highly recommend Dr. Nelson to anyone in need of orthopedic surgery.

Dr Nelson replaced my hip. The cup was not correctly set and I had to get a revision done one year later by another doctor. My experience with Dr. Nelson was akin to a nightmare. He talks great but he apparently has bad hands as a surgeon. Also he tried to hide the cause of my pain. I finally got fed up and went to another surgeon who diagnosed the misplacement of the cup in about two minutes. My hip flexor tendon was ruined and had to be released with the nest surgery. FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR.
