Care Philosophy

I discuss my surgical recommendations very specifically with patients; their thorough understanding is very important in their care. I explain the goals and risks of every procedure, verify their understanding of same, and have open dialogue answering any questions or concerns the patient may have. Each patient then meets with a member of my professional nursing staff, for "pre-operative teaching", thus furthering the patient's understanding of the procedure and their role in it to facilitate their recovery.Read more

Dr. Franco is what a doctor should be-knowledgeable, compassionate and kind. He took as much time with me as needed during each visit and that was deeply appreciated. His staff was just as thoughtful and kind and treated you like family. I highly recommend Dr. Franco who is a true professional and gentleman.

From our first visit, in a February snow storm, to yesterday, our last post-operative visit, Dr. Franco and his staff have been wonderful. We appreciate your surgical skills Dr. Franco and especially your kindness and professionalism. Hernia surgery was not on my list of things I would choose to do, but Dr. Franco's skill and caring made the process easier than I thought, and tolerable. I was not frightened and felt so much at ease from the moment my wife and I met you and your excellent staff.

Dr. Franco is a great doctor and I feel very comfortable with him. I never worried about my thyroid surgery while under his care, I already knew I was in good hands. My daughter had to have surgery and of course she too went to Dr. Franco!! Another positive experience. Bottom line is if you need a general or a vascular surgeon, no need to look further, he is THE BEST!!

Conditions Treated

Dr. Franco says..

I am pleased to offer my patients the newest technologies I am trained in which directly assists them in faster recoveries and a return to an optimum state of health. For example, I perform single-site robotic gallbladder surgery through a 1-cm. incision through the patient's bellybutton area. This technology is far advanced from a large, open gallbladder removal performed years ago and replaces the laparoscopic technique which still utilizes 4 port holes.

An advance in vascular surgery includes endovascular repairs of abdominal aortic aneurysms; previous open surgery necessitated a multiple-day stay in the hospital, where possible, and for most of my patients, an overnight stay in the hospital and smaller incisions with which to recover returns a patient home and on the road to recovery much more quickly.

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
