Dr. Starling's Care Philosophy

Each patient I care for is personally involved in his or her treatment. No matter what the condition being evaluated, different treatment options are always at our disposal, usually surgical and nonsurgical. I explain those options in easy to understand detail, outlining the advantages and disadvantages of each. Based on my experience and knowledge base, I then make a recommendation to you based on what I feel will give you the best possible outcome, but you always make the final decision.

Dr. Starling says...

Board certified in orthopedic surgery and fellowship trained in sports medicine, I treat most musculoskeletal extremity conditions. I have extensive experience in trauma, having performed my residency at one of the busiest level 1 trauma centers in the country, and also include adult joint reconstruction ( knee, hip, and shoulder) as a major part of my practice. My practice is not limited to adults, as I routinely evaluate pediatric patients as well, for injuries and other conditions. I am very conservative in my approach to treatment and always offer patients nonsurgical as well as surgical treatment options when appropriate, educating them as to all their treatment alternatives at the time of consultation, and listening to their concerns and questions. I have years of athletic team coverage experience at many different levels. Finally, I have a small dedicated staff who has been with me for years that tries their best to make patients comfortable throughout their treatment experience

Dr. Starling says...

My career in medicine started after earning a full academic scholarship to Emory University School of Medicine following matriculation at the University of Georgia where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Highest Honors. I have been in clinical practice for 17 years following my residency at Emory and sports medicine fellowship at the University of Tennessee. Exceptional training, years of experience, and thousands of successful outcomes have shaped my practice techniques and philosophy. I have had the good fortune to develop thousands of successful and rewarding doctor patient relationships over the years following thousands of successful surgical procedures including, but not limited to, knee and shoulder arthroscopies, ACL reconstructions, total knee, shoulder and hip arthroplasties ( replacements), carpal tunnel releases, and fracture surgeries
