This content was provided by Dr. Wheeler "Dr. Wheeler earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Following this, she completed her residency training in obstetrics at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH, and her fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the team at Women & Infants' Fertility Center in 1990, Dr. Wheeler practiced in New Orleans. Dr. Wheeler is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She is the director of the center's Third-Party Reproduction Program and of the Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic. Dr. Wheeler is the director of the Fertility Preservation Program, which assists women dealing with cancer and fertility concerns, and she also sees patients through the Women & Infants Menopause Program."

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Wheeler "Dr. Wheeler chose reproductive endocrinology and infertility as her specialty because it gives her the opportunity to improve the quality of life for women from adolescence to menopause with reproductive health issues. Dr. Wheeler believes that she makes a difference for women, whether it be dealing with menstrual-related issues or helping them build a family.

Dr. Wheeler aims to do everything possible to make sure that her patients receive the very best care in an uncompromising manner. Her patients come first in everything she does. Dr. Wheeler enjoys training the next generation of physicians so they can continue the work she is currently doing. Active in teaching trainees at all levels, Dr. Wheeler acts as a mentor for many future obstetrician/ gynecologists, and is happy to share her knowledge and experience.

Dr. Wheeler provides individualized care and embarks on a joint decision-making process with her patients. She takes care to give them information and data so that they can understand the thought processes and options, and ultimately decide what's best for themselves. Dr. Wheeler focuses on listening to her patients' needs with sensitivity and empathy. She aims to be open and honest with every patient, acknowledging that each patient has her or his own sets of values that should guide decisions about care.

In her spare time Dr. Wheeler is involved in numerous church activities. She sings in her church choir, rings in the handbell choir and serves on the board of trustees. Dr. Wheeler also works with children in the church as an acolyte leader and bible school teacher. Outside of church she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two children."

Also, in both meetings with her she checked her phone mid-conversation, without an excuse me or I'm sorry about that, which I found just plain rude.
