Hernia Surgery
Had an inguinal hernia and Dr Rooney and her team got me scheduled for surgery in under 3 weeks. A month after recovery I'm feeling great, much better than before surgery. Dr. Rooney's staff is incredibly helpful and reassuring especially since I was more than a little anxious before the surgery. My recovery feels like its going extremely well and to me that shows Dr. Rooney's skills as a surgeon and a medical professional. I do think that Dr. Rooney could work on bed side manner and have a little more pre-canned information before and after surgery. I knew I needed surgery because a hernia is not going to repair itself, but I don't know what questions to ask during pre-op/post-op medical appointments. It very much felt like if I didn't have questions we could have skipped seeing each other and I could have read a pamphlet on the type of surgery.

I had a good initial consultation with Dr Rooney and my OP surgery was scheduled within a week of my visit. The surgery itself went well, I had no pain or discomfort at the surgery site, a little tenderness elsewhere but absolutely tolerable. She did visit with me prior to my surgery to discuss the procedure and post-op instructions. She answered my questions and we had a good overall consultation. Everything happened just as she outlined and I'm pleased with the results.

I have been through 7 surgeries of various severity in in life. After each surgery the performing surgeon came in recovery or soon after to go over what had happened during and generally check on you. After the original consultation for surgery, I never saw her again. Asking her her "team mates" questions about the procedure came with "Well, 'it seems it may have been..." but no definitive answer. This leaves the patient with the feeling that she didn't have a concern about the patient but only "I got my money for consult and operation.....next". How was her "bedside manner"? She has none considering she doesn't bother to be by your bedside. No recommendations from me, as a matter of fact I have already detoured 2 people asking for recommendations for upcoming procedures.
