Dr. Kim's expertise includes macular degeneration, macular holes and puckers, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, intraocular tumors, ocular trauma, uveitis, retinal vascular diseases, and other diseases of the retina. Dr. Kim is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Kim has authored multiple scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous scientific meetings. He has been active in ophthalmic education, previously serving as Chief Resident, Assistant Chief of Ocular Trauma, and Associate Director of Ophthalmic Education at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. During his fellowship at the Barnes Retina Institute, he was selected to receive the Golden Apple teaching award by the Department of Ophthalmology at Washington University in St. Louis. He currently teaches at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology.
