Dr. Stevens' Care Philosophy

"I strive for providing compassionate and professional psychiatric services. I have a high sense of integrity and take great pride in being a psychiatrist. The responsibilities incumbent in my position are taken very seriously. I have a tremendous amount of respect for mental illness and the impact it has on individuals inflicted as well as for the family of such patients. In my opinion, there is no greater a medical illness than one that afflicts the mind. The feelings I possess regarding my practice of psychiatry can be summed up perfectly by Maimonides' Physician's Oath "May the love of my art inspire me at all times". His practice style places a strong emphasis on accurate diagnosing, which he has found to be one of the most common reasons for poor patent outcomes and response to treatment. In general, he feels patients are over-diagnosed and over-medicated. He prides himself on being a minimalist when it comes to prescribing psychiatric medications.

Dr. Stevens is a great listener and is able to get to the core mental health issues one faces.
