    Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

    Dr. Kaufman's Care Philosophy

His pediatric neurosurgical practice includes general pediatric neurosurgery, but with particular interests in pediatric neuro-oncology (brain tumors, spinal cord tumors), craniosynostosis and craniofacial surgery, spinal dysplasia (spina bifida, tethered cords) and the surgical treatments for spasticity (rhizotomy and baclofen pumps). As the leader of the division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children s Hospital, Dr. Kaufman has tried to create a group that can handle all of the various problems in Pediatric Neurosurgery. He works as a part of a team that includes other pediatric neurosurgeons, physician assistants, and nurses. Dr. Kaufman s goal is that each patient can have their neurosurgical problems addressed at our institution, if not by him then by his team.
