I've read all the reviews on Dr. Thompson and they're all correct... I've been seeing him for about a year now. But I still give him a high rating because he has been very thorough and is covering all bases when trying to determine exactly what's going on. I believe he just doesn't have good people skills; he is very quirky and does joke when it's not appropriate. But I also believe he's very intelligent; almost genius level and he knows what he's talking about.

Smart, compassionate, quick witted. Good judgment re: testing and treatment. Does not suffer fools.
Pompous, unprofessional, & greedy. Incompetent staff. You deserve better!

Everything's a joke to this guy; the most unprofessional dr. in my 70+ years. First thing He said my nerve conduction study was the worst he ever saw, then went on to explain some of the details. Only later said he was just kidding about it being the worse.

First visit was to order an MRI. All visits after that he was arrogant, demeaning, and belittling. The day after I was in the ER for a diagnosed cluster migraine and recommended to see my neurologist he said he didn't know why I would was there. He only treated people who were dying, I didn't look like I was dying. Then he said he was level 15 or 16 and I needed to go back to level 1 and see my family doctor. My final visit he said it would be a feather in his cap if his prescription worked.

Very thorough first visit. My husband had a stroke 6 months ago. Dr. Thompson is first neurologist we've been able to see. Very pleased with him.
in Greenville, SC |
He was rude and not only brought me down in everything, but also talked badly of my previous dr. who retired. He also did not listen to me only ordered. For these reasons I would not recommend him.

Dr. Thompson said that Wikipedia was better information than the Mayo Clinic. Told my daughter he does not like seeing children even though she was 18.Told my daughter only negatives-said she could die while swimming, she would never be a pilot or maybe drive. Prescribed about 4 meds on our first visit. Seemed borderline crazy--but I truly believe he was trying to make us change doctors because he did not what to be my daughters doctor.
