Dr. Ratigan is a genuinely compassionate and engaged man who is articulate, warm, and inspiring. His interaction is thorough and fully focused upon you, the patient. He explains all options without bias toward any treatment, allowing you to choose what you are most comfortable doing. When I first met him 12 years ago he was able to help me find a non-surgical treatment that was perfect for my shoulder injury. Because of his hippocratic heart I didn’t hesitate to call for an appointment for this current situation. He is the kindest, most empathetic, non egoistic physician that I have ever encountered! If only there were many more like him, there would truly be more satisfied patients.

Dr. Ratigan was a good listener who took time to answer my questions and I felt that he understood my problem. I liked his professional demeanor. He explained very clearly and carefully the medical issues with my knees, and his recommended treatment. I have chosen to have Dr. Ratigan perform knee replacement surgery. I felt that the staff at SBO were attentive and kind. I highly recommend Dr. Ratigan and South Bend Orthopedics.

He’s a good dr but getting follow up care once you are past 8wks post op is a joke. I have been trying for 3 wks to get some sort of response to the messages and calls and nothing. If you want good follow up care, look elsewhere. I honestly regret picking him as my dr.

Great surgeon. You will wait no less than one hour for each visit and never hear "sorry for waiting" from one staff person including the dr. He spends 5 minutes with you. If you want a great surgeon he's your guy. If you want nice staff and to be treated like you are more than a profit....he is not your guy.

Dr. Ratigan completely missed my shredded bicep tendon. He should really just work on ND athletes because he appears to have zero interest in the average joe. He did not keep scheduled appointments, he did not follow up with me concerning test results, and completely failed me.

Recommended as someone I should see for my shoulder. First visit went OK. Put me on physical therapy for six weeks to see if that would straighten out my core before he would delve further into the problem. Went back after PT to see where I stood. Was left waiting for over an hour before I finally left. No explanation. No apology for running late. Guess his time was more important than mine. It wasn't.
