I was referred to Dr. Burke through the Intercostal Medical Group in Sarasota. We met 2 weeks ago and he went to great lengths to describe the problem I was having with my knee and got me into survey today which was the soonest I could take time off for recovery. He took my concerns with anesthesia into account for the surgery and I had no complications and was treated as an out patient. The pain management was great and I've been pain free for the past 14 hours since surgery. Great experience!

Respected and trusted at first visit. Knee replacement recommended, and procedure scheduling started immediately, and completed in four weeks. Lakewood Ranch facility was five star. Discharged second day. Now four weeks out and with help of In home PT, basically 100 % back. Completely satisfied, and recommend without hesitation. A great addition to medical staff at Intercoastal and Lakewood Ranch.

Hip replacement on Feb. 22, 2014, continuing pain, on follow up visit Dr. Burke said I needed to walk more to overcome pain. Couldn't fully lift right leg. A lump appeared on scar which was cleaned out, BUT a MASSIVE INFECTION was discovered which had been festering a long time. Have been told if a simple blood test was done at time of my complaint the infection would have been discovered and cleared out. I'm now in a wheelchair and on antibiotics for the rest of my life. Would never recom
Took excellent care of my father, and couldn't have ask for a nicer doctor. Re hip replacement.

The goals of any surgery, elective or traumatic, is to restore function and decrease pain. Surgery is almost universally done due to a problem which is deemed quite severe & not tolerable otherwise. One must realize that surgeons don't always get the luxury of "picking" their patients & so we must treat "all comers" including those who are morbidly obese & have multiple medical issues. Those folks will have a higher likelihood of complications that cannot be magically corrected prior to surgery. Please keep this in mind as all surgical procedures carry risks and the healthier one is prior to any surgery, the less likely they will be to suffer a complication after surgery.
