Dr. Whittenberg's staff is very polite and helpful. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about Dr. Whittenberg. On my 1st visit she took the time to sit down and explain things. Over time I underwent a series of at least 10 injections (none of which helped). But most disturbing was how impersonal she became and self important. My last 2 visits were the worst. Both times, as I lay there, she entered the room laughing and joking with her assistant. No "hello" or "how are you?" or "any improvement?" And the last time she forgot that she was supposed to be giving me the 3rd injection in a series and not the 2nd. I felt like a slab of meat on a table. It seems to me she's more concerned with giving as many injections as possible in a day (and the associated income) and she's forgotten about actually "caring" for her patients. And oh by the way, after your 1st visit you will never again see Dr. Whittenberg for any follow-up visits - only her PAs. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

I had to see the Physicians assistant before seeing Dr. Whittenberg. I was given one option only for my neck pain relief. The communication between the PA and the doctor was lacking. When I called with questions, I could not get a human, only voicemail options. I left 3 separate messages asking for more info on the procedures I was to undergo, not a single call was returned. When I called the appointment line, the person who answered told me to look it up on the internet! This is the WORST experience I have ever had with a Doctors office. I do not recommend this poorly run office to anyone!

Dr. Whittenberg is very competent, and her staff are terrific. Yes, often they are harried, because it's a very busy office. On quieter days, the staff are warm and friendly. They are very efficient in filing the constant paperwork with my disability company. Sadia is a champ keeping the appointments straight. Lindsay (nurse) has been generous in organizing appointments around my disability timelines and answering my many questions. Jae and the other nurses/medical assistants are warm, friendly, and very competent with great senses of humor. Sometimes I've had to call and ask questions, and folks have always been helpful.

I waited 2+ hours with no apology or explanation in an exam room for a consult with Dr. Whittenberg for a steroid injection for back pain. Her consult was hurried, abrupt, with no discussion of my condition and treatment options until I asked. She offered the shot that day once I got insurance authorization, which was quick; however, an office worker then told me it would be another 2 hour wait for the shot. I had been there for about 4 hours already and felt ill-used and ignored. I walked out.

Dr. Whittenberg is a nice doctor and very professional. I had a couple of back injections and most of them were successful, I feel that the doctor is a bit rushed and the time she spends with you is just enough for the procedure because sh has to jump to the next person. The office seems to over book people which causes a longer wait time and doesn't allow not even 5 minutes to let the doctor know about your progress or ask any questions. Some of the staff are unprofessional and unattentive.

Dr. Whittenberg has no interest to actually solving the patients problems, she just wants to keep on accumulating patients. She would never see you except for the first evaluation and if the Nurse Practitioner (btw Nurse Michelle is wonderful) or the PA decides that you need an injection. She rushes through the injection without waiting for the anesthesia to work and as a result causing major pains. Stay away from this doctor. She does not provide with working solution.

The office said they run between an hour and an hour and a half behind all day every day. How is that acceptable when you are seeing pain patients? Why not change your scheduling to deal with the issue? Then they were hurried and said they were short on time after I waited over an hour.

I saw Laura Ricard (PA) twice at the Fairfax, VA location. She spent 5 minutes examining me, did not order an MRI and even after hearing my medical history, misdiagnosed me. She was rude, not at all compassionate and seemed very impatient. As a result of her misdiagnosis, I received a very painful injection which was in the wrong area and a complete waste of time and money. Her diagnosis cost me weeks of additional pain and delayed proper treatment. This place is a factory.

Dr. Whittenberg was very thorough, asking plenty of questions and actually listening to the answers. She was concerned with how things were going, what I have tried that didn't work and what she thought we could do that might work. She was very honest, knowledgeable and caring. She did a series of cervical epidural's to help with neck pain I had been fighting for over 20 years, and thus far has been the only thing to help me. She's the best!

Made appointment for my mother visiting from AZ. She had seen a pain specialist there, but no relief. After visiting with Dr. Whittenberg, she determined previous Drs were treating the wrong area to reduce her leg pain. She and her staff worked incredibly fast to get my mother in before she returned to AZ. The pain management worked. And she talked my mother and I through the entire procedure. Great ability to communicate medical procedure so those of us without medical degree understood.
