Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery
Dr. Amis performed the surgery using the new technology called Sonex which was less invasive and had a much faster recovery time. He was extremely helpful and professional explaining the procedure. He also put my mind at ease with regard to having the surgery while I was awake. I would highly recommend Dr. Amis and the use of this new technology for carpal tunnel surgery.

Knowledgeable, patient and explains your symptoms.
Dr. Amis is easy to talk to. He spends all the time you need to be made aware of your treatment and made comfortable. I was treated for a trigger finger, this was my second visit, and I was told in my first visit A second may be necessary. Good doctors are hard to find and I am blessed to have found the best hand doctor in Austin. He also has a lovely staff who are attentive and kind.

Very well spoken.
I have visited other doctors about my problem, but Dr. Amis was the first one to explain it in a way that was easily understood the first time. His staff was also very helpful.

Dr. Amis corrected a problem that had arisen from a previous procedure done by someone else. He also took time to investigate a pain in my shoulder, took X rays and discussed his findings with me and gave me some exercises I could do that will hopefully eliminate a need for surgery. He is a compassionate, thorough , knowledgeable and very pleasant to talk to. his staff is competent and very professional and presents a very laid back and friendly atmosphere from the initial phone call to the latest visit.

Friendly, professional, helpful and honest
My experience with Dr. Amis began two year’s ago after a vehicle accident. He first treated a very painful left thumb. After trying some physical therapy and cortisone injections we decided surgery would be the best for me. After the surgery my thumb almost immediately began feeling better. I’m so glad I had the surgery I haven’t had any pain in my thumb since. My ordeal continued though with a very painful left hand and wrist. Dr. Amis decided to have another MRI done on my hand/wrist. This MRI showed another injury not visible on the first. After consulting with his partner we had a visit and he explained what was going on. The problem was a bone in my wrist the had a damaged area. He explained to me that he hadn’t performed this particular surgery and told me that his partner had with success. After some time and consultation I decided he would be the surgeon with the help and assistance of his partner. I do not regret my decision and highly recommend him to everyone.

The staff was wonderful and I was very impressed with Dr. Amis. He was very direct in explaining my condition and I appreciate the fact that he did not try to up sell me on a surgery I don’t need, which has been an experience I had with most doctors. He’s compassionate, kind and honest which is hard to find now a-days. I recommend Dr Amis highly.

Day 1 post Carpal Tunnel release. More than a decade ago, I had carpal tunnel release performed by a different surgeon and had a challenging recovery. My journey with Dr. Amis and his team has been wholly different. Dr. Amis collaborated with me, as we tried less invasive interventions. Though beneficial , eventually surgery was the final option as I began to experience dwindling benefits from other strategies. The surgery lasted less than 20 minutes. As local blocks were used, I was able to dress and drive home. Dr. Amis explained the procedure throughout. He is gentle, patient, professional and informative. He listens with intent. As mentioned, it is only 24 hours post surgery, but this far I'm impressed with my range of motion along with my fine and gross mobility. My pain has been less than expected and well managed . Overall, extremely pleased.

Dr Amis is a kind person who treats his patients with respect, while diagnosing with point-on questions about symptoms and progression of the problem. He is thorough in his explanations and options. His wonderful technician was able to x-ray my wrist so a fracture was found that a prior Urgent Care visit and x-ray did not.
