I have found Dr. Newsome to be as candid as one can be given the uncertain nature of cancer. I have also found him to be quite open to discussing therapies that are apart from the standard MGH protocols. He listens, he cares, and tries to give a reasonable explanation to every question I have raised. Additionally, he seems quite willing to give as much time to each visit as the patient needs. For many of us, cancer is a terminal disease because of the nature of the cancer or the circumstances of when it was initially diagnosed. He seems quite aware of this and demonstrates empathy and concern for the patient's feelings. I don't know what more a patient can expect from a doctor.

I have recommended him to someone. I am just use to the dr. he replaced who spent more time with patients and wrote down information so that we could still review it when we got home in case we still had questions.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Barrett Newsome, DO?
He doesn't listen to patient or other Doctors. His extreme arrogance cost me several months of life (in my opinion). The hospital can communicate with my primary doctor two towns away but Newsome claims he never received updates from the ER when he is 1 floor above. I would stay away from this facility and especially this doctor, He told me life has no guarantees and there is a better chance of getting hit by a satellite then my cancer coming back, 6 months later he was wrong.
