A Dr. who will really listen and talk to you
We were referred to Dr. Atquizzaman for follow up after my wife's surgery to repair a stage 4 Hiatial Hernia. He was unusually good at listening to us, understanding our concerns, and giving us good common sense advice. He was better than anyone else has been about helping us to understand what the surgery accomplished, what we should not be expecting it to have accomplished, and how to continue self care. We did not use him for an examination, diagnosis (beyond our conversation) or medical procedure so cannot honestly comment on that. But we can testify that it was a thoroughly enjoyable and productive post-surgery consultation. A rare doctor who is not afraid to tell the truth in common sense language and is more interested in helping patients than in coding the visit to maximize reimbursement from insurance. Highly recommended.

I was nervous for a procedure and he told me to stop asking questions and listen. He was so rude and didn’t even come talk to me after he did my procedure. The nurse even apologized how rude he was! He was just in a rush and had absolutely NO bedside manners!

He was very condescending when I asked for more information about my Barretts esophagus, a potentially very serious condition. He went so far as to tell me to not read so much and I should go meditate! I felt very dismissed and disrespected. He also gave me no information about how to treat it except to take acid reducers and come have another endoscopy in six months. I have had to do research myself and gained a lot of information from my osteopath about Barretts esophagus, which I think I should have heard from my gastroenterologist. I am changing doctors to one who will not berate me and respects when a patient wants to understand her condition and the risks involved, and can tell me practical things to do to take responsibility for my health.

Wham bamb thank you Ma’am. His idea of an exam was to ask me to stand, he then poked my belly three times and asked me if that hurt. Zero bedside manner. A waste of time and money!
