Dr. Asma Anwar is a caring, compassionate, and skilled doctor who was a key member of the team at Banner Desert Hospital where my life was saved. I am a 69 year old guy who looks like Geo. Washington (but 4 inches shorter) with a Groucho mustache. I had a pulmonary embolism. Soon after I was wheeled out of the ICU there was the radiant Dr. Anwar saying I would recover. Her insight and encouragement meant a lot to me. Now I am her grateful patient.

This review speaks only to Dr. Anwar's compassion, or apparent lack thereof. When my father landed in ICU during his treatment, the hospital had to BEG Dr. Anwar's office (dr. was on vacation) to come in for a consult. When Dr. Anwar finally arrived days later, she acted like she was there for a social visit, casually drinking her Diet Coke and chatting with us without ever looking at my father. She could have saved immense pain by recommending hospice, but she avoided that conversation.

Dr. Anwar has been my dad's oncologist since May 2017. Dr. Anwar has been very good at showing both compassion and candor towards him. She is very good at keeping him focused and positive thru the chemo cycles too. Dr. Anwar is a very empathetic person in general. I would recommend her as an oncologist to any person who is in need of treatment.

When it was suspected by my family Doctor that I should be sent to an oncologist to determine if I had leukemia, I was scared and worried. When I made the appointment with Dr. Anwar, she explained in detail what the procedure would be for making the diagnosis. She was matter-of-fact and kind, which I appreciated. Since my diagnosis, she has been very reassuring and positive. She has dealt with several complications that I developed in a timely, professional and kind manner.

Dr. Anwar is a wonderful person. She is professional, personable and so easy to talk to about all of my health concerns. She makes you feel so comfortable in every way as if you were an old friend.(She even says I look like Sophia Lauren!)It was very comforting to know she was able to treat me at then rectify my issue and sadly released me from her care as I will miss our visits together. In all my 79 years I have never met a doctor who has cared for me as Dr. Anwar and I feel so very privileged

Once I received my diagnosis of cancer, I needed to know who were the two Dr's that would be treating.me. Meeting Dr. Anwar was a pleasant relief, She is very knowledgeable about various cancers and the necessary amount of Chemo needed to defeat this disease. She answered all of my questions and concerns, She explained that the amount of chemo I would be given was light, to assist the radiation. I would probably not loose my hair not get sick. I felt calm after our discussion.
