    NATURE OF COMPLAINT

    Dr. Padhiar was found guilty six times of DUI in Michigan between 1989 and 2002.

    He was admitted to a treatment center in 2002 and diagnosed with alcohol dependence and adjustment disorder with mixed anxiety and depressed mood.

    ACTION TAKEN

    Dr. Padhiar’s medical license is revoked, stayed, subject to suspension for at least 270 days.

    06/11/03: Consent Order for Reinstatement.

    Dr. Padhiar's medical license reinstated subject to the following Probationary terms, conditions and limitations:

    1. He shall keep a log of all controlled substances prescribed.
    2. He shall dispose of all excess or unused controlled substances properly.
    3. He shall completely abstain from the consumption of alcohol and any mood altering substances, except as prescribed for him for a legitimate medical purpose.
    4. He shall undergo random drug/alcohol urine, biological fluid or blood screen analysis, on a weekly basis.
    5. He shall designate a supervising physician to supervise the drug screen analysis and a monitoring physician who will monitor his practice and review his patient charts.
    6. He shall participate four times per week in meetings of AA, NA, Caduceus Club or similar support group.
    7. He shall abide by all terms of his continuing aftercare contract.
    8. He shall undergo and continue psychiatric treatment monthly.
    9. He shall limit his work hours to no more than 50 hours per week.

    07/15/04: Probation Modification
    Doctor's requests to reduce frequency of psychiatric sessions to every three months is granted. (Paragraph 8)

    His request to reduce urine screening and saliva testing requirements is denied. (Paragraph 4)

    May 12, 2010 – Voluntary Surrender

    In lieu of formal disciplinary proceedings based on the physician’s alleged inability to practice according to acceptable and prevailing standards of care because of habitual or excessive use or abuse of drugs, alcohol or other substances that impair ability to practice, the physician executed a Surrender of his license to practice medicine and surgery in Ohio, with consent to revocation. The State Medical Board of Ohio accepted the Surrender and ordered the physician’s medical license permanently Revoked.
