Each day is an opportunity to positively impact the life of a patient and family that are distressed. When cancer strikes, a new normal settles in. It can feel impossible to make headway. Our team partners with patients and families to gently ease the transition. Oncology was a natural fit for me: a field to help others and demonstrate compassion and love while using the medical knowledge that I have acquired through my training. Neuro-oncology drew me in for similar reasons. I am pleased to be one of under 200 MDs in the country who practice this subspecialty, and the only one in metro Charlotte. Five years ago, I was thrilled to build a general oncology and neuro-oncology practice in an optimal setting. When not practicing in the clinic, I am conducting clinical research or teaching medical students, residents, or fellows. I was pleasantly surprised to be named a finalist for the Charlotte Business Journal Excellence in Health Care Award for Innovation in Health Care in 2015. In 2014, I was named the first recipient of Levine Cancer Institute's President's Award.
