Dr. Kalra studied medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Punjab, India, and went on to study natural sciences and cancer pharmacology at State University of New York. He completed residency training at Wayne State University Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, followed by medical oncology and senior research fellowships at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, New York. He has been a board-certified oncologist since 1985, and has studied in the fields of hematology and oncology since 1980. Since then, he's maintained an active involvement in cancer research studies and authored numerous medical publications. Dr. Kalra has also been appointed to various teaching positions throughout his career, serving as a medical professor at the University of Sothern California's department of oncology. Most recently, he was appointed clinical faculty assistant professor of internal medicine at Western University of Health Sciences. Combining patient analysis and modern research to generate carefully individualized treatment plans, Dr. Kalra hopes patients he treats will feel well-informed and satisfied with the care they receive. He has an abiding interest in all aspects of medical oncology with a special emphasis on lung cancer, brain tumors and sarcomas. In his spare time Dr. Kalra enjoys traveling with his wife, playing with his pets and enjoying California's parks and beaches. He has faithfully practiced Vipassana mediation since 1994, and attributes this practice to helping him develop acceptance, compassion, wisdom and respect for all living beings.
