This content was provided by Dr. Grigorian "Dr. Grigorian is the only neurosurgeon managing complex vascular and endovascular lesions of the brain including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and hemorrhagic/ischemic strokes in this part of the state. In conjunction with two other US neurosurgeons, he has been part of a collaborative effort to create major advancements in technology with the development of a clot retriever which is viewed as revolutionary care for ischemic stroke patients. This technology, which has led to the awarding of 12 patents, has become the standard of preferred treatment in the last two years . A native of Armenia, Dr. Grigorian completed a general neurosurgical residency at UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School. He followed his residency with a vascular fellowship at Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York City and completed an additional fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery as well. His areas of specialization include vascular, endovascular and general neurosurgery together with management of complex spine disorders and intracranial neoplasms. He is the author of more than 45 articles related to intracranial pathology in addition to being the author of two monographs on subarachnoidal hemorrhages and ischemic strokes. Dr. Grigorian is a member of numerous organizations including both the cerebrovascular and the endovascular divisions of the American Association of Neurosurgeons. He is a member of the regional stroke coalition as well as being a part of The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Navicent Health's stroke team. In 2012, Dr. Grigorian was an honored recipient of the Armenian Presidential Award for his work with the internationally-known Neurosciences Physicians' Training initiative. He is also an honorary member of multiple international neurosurgical societies. Since the establishment of a biplane hybrid operating room at The Medical Center, Navicent Health, one of only a few high-classified endovascular suites currently functioning in the United States, Dr. Grigorian and the staff of Georgia Neurosurgical Institute are currently at the cutting edge of complex intracranial management and spine pathology.
