This content was provided by Dr. Hashwani "Dr. Arafat Hashwani is the founder and President of Hashwani Neurology & Neurophysiology Clinic (HNNC). After graduating with Honors in Chemical Engineering with Senior Honors Thesis at the University of Houston, he earned his medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine. During his medical school, he was mentored by Dr. John De Toledo—a nationally recognized Epileptologist. Dr. Hashwani completed his internship in Internal Medicine and Neurology Residency at the University of Texas at Galveston (UTMB), followed by Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship (specializing in EEG and EMG/NCS) at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Dr. Hashwani is a board certified Neurologist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), and has special fellowship training in procedures including EEG, Nerve Conduction Studies, and EMG. He is also trained in programming Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS) and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). Dr. Hashwani's clinical interests include treatment and management of conditions such as seizures/epilepsy, migraines/headaches, neuromuscular disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome, strokes, neuropathy, tremors, neck pain, back pain, memory problems/dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease/movement disorders, radiculopathy, myopathy, dizziness, vertigo, and syncope. Having completed his fellowship training in the largest medical center in the world, Dr. Hashwani had the opportunity to treat common neurological disorders, as well as, rare neurological disease processes. Growing up, he was involved with many community projects and events, and he continues to be passionate about serving the community, doing volunteer work, and teaching.
