I visited Dr. Varia last November for a colonoscopy & upper GI. Our initial visit was the usual medical history, let's get you scheduled. The day of my procedures, he was an hour late to the hospital. One nurse made mention that this was not unusual. After the procedure, he told me to contact the office in a week for pathology results. He mentioned a couple of areas of concern. Long story short, it took over 2 wks. and 3-4 phone calls to finally get the "all clear" from his nurse. I never spoke with him and the issues he mentioned at the hospital were never brought up - I had to specifically ask. This year, after some recurring symptoms, I decided to give him another try. Another visit, some tests - several calls for test results only to be told (by his nurse) that I am constipated! Seriously, I paid for blood work and an ultrasound for this?! I went for a second opinion and turns out my gallbladder needs to be removed and I have chronic gastritis, needing meds to heal stomach.

He is great. We talked about my condition and alternative medicines. He was not keen on just prescribing something a pharmaceutical company is encouraging him to use. I appreciate that he listened to me. I like him so much that I have sent friends and family to him.

I too liked the Doctor but his staff including Penny, Office Manager is awful. So I scheduled a Colonoscopy in early April, 2019. The office never got clearance from my Cardiologist to have the procedure although I was assured they would. I went through the prep which was not fun at all and showed up for the procedure. Additionally I stopped taking my blood thinners a week before at their recommendation. I showed up at 7:15 am for a 7:30 am appointment and by 8:45 am got tired of waiting, They all blamed each other, the outpatient clinic blamed the Dr. Office and the Doctor office called for approval the day before the procedure although it had been scheduled for a month. Too bad most Doctors loss patients because of incompetent staff and that is what Dr. Varia has.

A doctor with a personality! He did not rush through my visit and spent time speaking with me about my issues. He was serious is addressing the problem but also humorous. I recommend Dr. Varia to those looking for a very good GI doctor.

So many tests and diagnosed for gastritis. Still loosing weight and cannot eat. Was told to see a Surgeon for exploratory surgery. There has to be more that can be done before resorting to this. I feel abandoned by this Dr. Can never speak to Dr on the phone only his nurse...thats a big negative

I met Dr. Varia when I had been admitted to St Luke's Hospital with Diverticulitis, that had not responded to the initial treatment of antibiotics taken at home. He was kind, compassionate, gave me his mobile phone to contact him at any time over the weekend, since I was admitted on a Friday, if I had any questions or concerns. In follow-up visits he was very informative, patient and understanding. He did a colonoscopy for me, and everything was handled very well. I highly recommend.
