My primary role is to provide non-operative spine care for patients with neck and back pain. What we talk about are different ways that we can treat the patient's pain and symptoms while avoiding a surgical procedure - which could be not only expensive but cost them a lot of time in their life. And my thought is, why have a surgery if you don't need it. And so basically I try and help people get through that process, and we're successful a lot of the time. Of course, if it is appropriate at some point, we do move forward with the surgical intervention. It's always a good day when someone comes in and says, Oh you changed my life. I can do these things that I couldn't do before. I can pick up my grandchild. It makes you - it makes me happy.
