Dr. Pelech has greater than 25 years of experience in caring for children with congenital heart defects and in particular directorship of the Cardiac Catheterization labs at two academic hospitals over this interval. He has served as the Medical Director of the Herma Heart Center Cardiovascular Research Focus which oversees the implementation and management of greater than 130 IRB approved cardiac research studies at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children s Hospital of Wisconsin. He has developed the Heart Center Clinical Database which serves as the research foundation for studies conducted on greater than 70,000 operative repairs and 140,000 clinical patients. In addition, he has served for more than 10 years as the director of a statewide registry of congenital heart defects, the Wisconsin Pediatric Cardiac Registry, a genetic and environmental database conducting studies investigating the etiology of congenital cardiac defects. He is an active member of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention and has participated in the development and clinical presentation of multiple catheterization devices and registries.
