Dr. Coburn has practiced ophthalmology at the Texas Medical Center since 1990. She serves as the Past President and Director of Community Outreach for the Houston Ophthalmological Society and is Vice Chairman of Prevent Blindness Texas. In that capacity she spearheaded eye care services at the Houston medical shelters for over 5000 evacuees during hurricanes Katrina and Harvey. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College and Baylor College of Medicine, and a member of the Blanton Eye Institute of Houston Methodist Hospital. She has participated in teaching clinical ophthalmology to residents; in courses at the American Academy of Ophthalmology; and as a clinical mentor in Medical Ethics at Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine. She has been elected multiple times to Best Doctors in America, Top Ophthalmologists in America, and Top Doctors in Texas. Dr. Coburn has been married for over 35 years and has two wonderful children. Her interests include languages (Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese) , drawing, and weight training. A third generation physician,she considers it a great honor to be able to help people by restoring vision, training the next generation of physicians, and improving education and access to eye care in the community.
