Dr. Amit Gogia received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency at The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio before returning with his family to Richmond. Dr. Gogia is board certified in general surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He performs a full complement of general surgery procedures. He has extensive experience and leads in the development of minimally invasive and robotic assisted surgery for the treatment of hernias and disorders of the gallbladder, thyroid, and colon. Dr. Gogia is the medical director of the Hernia Center of Excellence at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center. They were among the first in the country to achieve this accreditation. Dr. Gogia was the first in Virginia to successfully perform a robotic repair of a complex abdominal wall hernia. He continues to specializes in robotic minimally invasive repairs of complex hernias, which can mean smaller incisions, less pain, fewer complications, and faster recovery for patients.
