Dr. Kahana is excellent! Due to shingles in 2019 my eye was at risk. Dr Kahana performed Corneal Neurotization Surgery and not only saved my eye but changed my life. I had been through 4 years of seeing different specialists trying everything from Oxervate, to Vital Tears, and Prokeras with no results. A corneal specialist in Indianapolis recommended I see Dr Kahana due to another patient having success. My first visit to Michigan I new I was in great hands. The knowledge and attention to detail in my case was outstanding! They had my insurance quickly approve my surgery and within no time I was back in Michigan to have the surgery. He explained everything that would happen during and post surgery and was available for any follow up questions. The surgery and follow up appointments have been seamless. As of 4 months post surgery my eye/new nerve to my eye has resulted in tearing, better vision, and sensation/feeling restored. My eye is saved and I can now focus on my life as it was before. I am training to now run a half marathon in May. I can not Thank Dr Kahana and his staff enough!

I could write a paper on everything that went wrong. I'll keep it short and just say that if you're seeing him for anything tumor or reconstruction related; find a new surgeon. He performed the surgery poorly, didn't remove much of the tumor and left me with pain and a significant facial deformity that I'll have to live with for the rest of my life. He lied about the cause of the deformity. After switching teams at UofM I found out how everything went wrong. Kahana left UofM a few months after my surgery with him. The new team I was put with had to do their best to remove tumor he left behind while attempting to improve the deformity. He comes off as very kind and charming when you meet him. From my experience he lacks ethics and will put his career ahead of your health and well being if he thinks he can get away with it.

Dr. Kahana corrected deformities in my sister's (who has Down's Syndrome) eyelids. I was impressed by his professionalism and knowledge of the condition. the condition had gone undiagnosed by other ophthalmologists. Dr. Kahana explained that not all ophthalmologists are aware of the condition. I'm thankful that we happened upon him. He also noted corneal scarring due to a different defect and referred my sister to a cornea specialist, again for which I am grateful. I recommend the good doctor wholeheartedly.

My daughter had surgery done by Dr. Kahana, and my experience was nothing like the previous review. Dr. Kahana stayed in close contact before and after the surgery. I felt like his heart connected with ours. He is a very good doctor that understands the fear a parent has and addresses all issues.

Very hard to get in contact with for urgent matters. Even when you do get in contact there is no resolution just a waiting game. After seeing you a couple times he tries to drop you as a patient by leaving you hanging with no answer or guidance.
