Doctor Altahir doesn't have time for his patients.
Dr. Altahir suggested that we stop one of my meds for a week and to call him if changes are needed. The change made me more tired and I started falling asleep at school. I sent several emails asking for a phone call to discuss my concerns and any medication changes needed to be made. The office staff said they would forward my email to him each time. One reply email from the office staff said, "Unfortunately, he doesn't do personal phone calls" and I can contact him through the patient portal. When I wrote back asking how the patient portal works, I was told, "Unfortunately, Dr. Altahir doesn't utilize patient portal", I could give them the message and they will forward it to the doctor. I wanted to talk to the doctor directly. I feel, the office staff does not need to know my business. I was told, "Dr. Altahir has a booked out schedule. There are lists of people who are also in the list for him to call." Long story short, he does not have time in his schedule for his patients.

Horrible customer service and lack of professionalism at this practice. I was referred to Dr. Altahir by my daughter’s pediatrician, thus I felt comfortable in taking her for treatment. However, they don't answer the telephone nor return calls. The NP speaks so softly, one cannot understand her. Even after bringing it to her attention, she had the nerve to state that others have complained. My daughter was not to start a second medication until we received clearance from test results, after calling and calling I did not get a response for 6 days. Then when called back, a different prescription was prescribed. They tried to make it seem like I was confused. I refused to see the NP and would only see Dr. Altahir – I shared all of my concerns and stated that the only reason I was returning was because of the referral. He apologized, but still waiting for a response to an urgent request. Will not return and will certainly let my daughters pediatrician know not to make referrals!

The staff are incompetent. They NEVER return calls. My son has run out of medication several times because the script was written wrong or not sent or something went wrong. They are incapable of fixing things on a first try its frustrating and we will not be going back once I can find a new psychiatrist.

Dr. Altahir is my child's psychiatrist. I could not be more impressed with his work, mannerism, and professionalism. When we first called in and came for the visit, his office staff and the office manager was extremely helpful and nice. We felt comfortable very quickly and continue to be pleased with the service they provide. I highly recommend Dr. Altahir if you are looking for a child/adolescent help! This is the right place to go.

The doctor is impossible to get in touch with and the front office staff is rude and not helpful. Our son was experiencing major side effects of the medication prescribed and we were unable to get ahold of the doctor to find out what to do for our son. Needless to say, we have since sought care elsewhere.

He’s rude. When I had my appointment with Dr. Altahir he seemed annoyed that I was taking so much of his time and was deeply offensive in asking me if I was transexual multiple times in different ways. I’ve never ever ever gotten that before. I have a males first name, but go by my middle name. I told him that I’m not trans, but he proceeded to ask me if my middle name was my legal middle name. That in itself was extremely concerning and to me, at least, showed a lack of professionalism.

We saw this Dr. for approximately 9 months. He is rude! My son has severe ADHD as well as other conditions. This Dr. chastised my son more than once during office visits. He also started his treatment by stating that he is not here to provide therapy, just medication. It is difficult to get appointments with him. His office staff was ignorant.

Top notch! Dr. Altahir is a Psychiatrist and not a psychologist. Medication management is his field. Even saying that he listens attentively. They know what they are doing. He has a team that is qualified and accomplished. The office is very busy and Charity handles it very well considering all that is involved with the volume. I do recommend Dr. Altahir to all because I feel he is the best. I have tried other psychiatrists but they don't compare. Its like apples and oranges

Dr. Altahir is highly qualified and receives my upmost recommendation. He is by far the most capable psychiatrist I have been associated with. He has served my family during a 10 year period of time without incident. His ethics are remarkable and because of his competence and knowledge, our family is confident that we receive the best care that is available from the mental health profession. He listens very carefully and attentively to our concerns and devises strategies that are effective.

Dr. Altahir and Staff have been wonderful. Finding people to understand the struggle of finding the right medication that helps your child be successful with the challenges they face with ADHD and behavioral issues can be hard but they have been attentive and open to making changes to help us cope as a family and that I am thankful for!!

Dr. Altahir and Chris van Eyck are very knowledgable about the latest treatments for anxiety and depression in teens and adults. They don't just hand out medicine without listening carefully first. They take time to explain options and offer advice. I particularly appreciate the office staff who are always friendly and helpful. Charity, who handles the insurance, has worked hard on our behalf to get approval for our prescriptions, even though they were initially denied. Highly recommended.

Dr. Altahir is a very nice man but the rest of his staff is downright awful. My insurance didn't allow me to see anyone else in the area and after almost a year, Im done. The receptionists are incredibly rude, they don't answer your messages (needed a refill, called far enough ahead and they never returned my call) or even the phone and their policies are militant. Though it helps the schedule run smoothly it lends no consideration to the patient and their time with the Dr. Poor care all around

This office is very unprofessional from the scheduling process to the care provided. Not only did my child never get to see Dr. Altahir, which was our initial preference, but my child ended up seeing a practitioner who virtually herded my child in like sheep for 10 minute evaluations/consultations after peddling medication as the only option of care. Additionally this practitioner was very unprofessional by discussing adult issues with my minor child unrelated to the parameters of patient care.

During the past three years, two of my teenage children have required psychiatric medications. When things are going well, appointments are short (just a status check before refilling prescriptions) but longer if med changes are required. Dr. Altahir typically asks the child how things are going and then discusses concerns of the parent. Our children also have weekly therapy appointments with other professionals. I'm extremely satisfied with the services Dr. Altahir provides
