I am a new patient of Dr. Gellhorn's. I went to see him on Tuesday with a heavy heart as I was sure I would need surgery on my left shoulder. In my 45 minute visit with him (yes, 45 minutes), he asked me questions, examined my shoulder, did a sonogram and diagnosed the problem, all in one visit. He told me that I did not need surgery or even PT and that I had a frozen shoulder. I had had it for several months and it was restricting my range of motion and really my every day life. He suggested a steroid shot in my shoulder and he did it in the same visit. I've already noticed a positive change in my shoulder and it's only been 2 days. I was so happy and relieved that I actually cried tears of joy when I left. I am grateful to Dr. Gellhorn for his compassion, patience and ability. I highly recommend him to anyone with an orthopedic issue.

Dr. Gellhorn was thorough with my examination. During the visit he did a sonogram and decided I should have an X-ray. He is courteous and easy to talk to. On the same day he called me to let me know the prognosis. I highly recommend him.

My waiting time was short for Dr. Gellhorn, he was so friendly and personable right away. I explained my problem, he didn’t just shoo me away within 2 minutes like so many doctors do. He asked more questions, did his own exam. Gave me his analysis in a clear, concise manner, then gave me some immediate options as well as plans to prevent another acute pain flare-up. He then proceeded to give an ultrasound of my problem shoulder. I was completely at ease, finally feeling like I found a doctor who is LISTENING to me, genuinely caring about figuring out what this is and why I had such excruciating pain without injury. I thank Dr. Gellhorn for helping tremendously and expeditiously!

I’ve seen several physiatrists in the past couple years to address multiple musculoskeletal problems. I was hoping they would offer non-surgical, more wholistic approaches than those recommended by orthopedic surgeons. Instead, I received what seems to have become the standard academic medical center care model - being worked up by a resident and seeing the attending MD for 5-10 minutes. Thus, it was a surprise and delight to have found Dr. Gellhorn. No residents here but 45 minutes of his undivided attention listening to my complex issues and thoughtfully coming up with approaches. Very nice guy and empathetic. I finally feel I found someone who can help me.

On a recent Feb. 2020 visit to drain fluid and apply cortisone from and to both knees, Dr. Gellhorn was really terrific. He listened to my knee story, explained what he was about to do and why, and he assured me that the pain management would be more than adequate. In conclusion, it was a reasonably painless procedure, I feel remarkably better and am moving very well where before I was in pretty bad pain, and I am now a big fan of Dr. Gellhorn.
