Dr. Badia's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Badia "Alejandro Badia, MD, FACS is a world-renowned hand and upper extremity surgeon at Badia Hand to Shoulder Center, located in Doral, Florida. Dr. Badia graduated from Cornell University and completed his medical degree at NYU. Afterwards he undertook a hand fellowship at Alleghany General Hospital in Pittsburgh and followed that with an AO trauma fellowship in Freiburg, Germany. Dr. Badia served as the worldwide president of ISSPORTH and co-founded the globally recognized M.A.R.C. Institute and The Surgery Center at Doral, an elite state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center. Prior to founding his private practice Badia Hand to Shoulder Center in 2008, he was the Chief of Hand Surgery at Baptist Hospital in Miami. Until this day, Dr. Badia remains a member of the ASSH, AAHS, AAOS as well as many other foreign hand surgery societies. He leads an active international hand fellowship, serves on the editorial board of two hand journals, and organizes a yearly Miami meeting for surgeons/therapists that is devoted to upper limb arthroscopy and arthroplasty. In 2010, after years of a successful medical career and a prestigious speaking legacy, Dr. Badia saw a need for specialized orthopedic urgent care centers to efficiently assess and treat a range of orthopedic and sports injuries. That's when he founded OrthoNOW®, the nation's only orthopedic urgent care franchise. Each OrthoNOW® has a team of orthopedic specialists on staff that treat broken bones, sprains, torn ligaments and muscles, cuts, sports and workers compensation injuries. "
